BIG Plans Ahead – Annual Strategy Meeting Report
BIG Logistics DFW was proud to play host to our Annual Strategy Meeting at the beginning of the 2nd Quarter. Our team, along with the investors and leadership from our holding company SecurCapital, shared the story of BIG from our inception in 2016 through to our latest initiatives in technology, capital improvements and a look ahead to what plans to be a very ambitious 2022 and beyond.
Led by our CEO Vinod Baliga and his team including Daniel Johns, Tony Pope, Tony Rubacalva, Lara Fosnight, we walked the SecurCapital guests through our list of accomplishments and our short and medium term roadmap.
We were most excited to give people a tour of our crown jewel facility, the building on 28th Avenue on DFW property. In a series of three stages, BIG Logistics first started with approximately 45,000 square feet in the the center of the entire building and over the past year and with an investment from SecurCapital, acquired the entirety of the building, giving us a combined 220,000 square feet of office and warehouse space that is climate controlled and CEIV-pharma certified.
Through the efforts of our Compliance Manager Jessica Galbraith, the building is also a TSA-certified Indirect Air Carrier facility, a Customs bonded Container Freight Station (CFS) and a Foreign Trade Zone affording current and future clients the greatest amount of flexibility in the handling of their cargo.
We currently handle light manufacturing and e-commerce pick and pack fulfillment on a limited basis for clients, but are anticipating a capital expenditure injection from SecurCapital that will allow us to increase the amount of available racks for storage, increase the amount of ring and gun scanners to increase pick and pack speed and efficiency and deploy tablets throughout the warehouse for a variety of inventory control and management uses.
As BIG grows, so does our commitment to our employees well-being, education company culture. We have plans for a B.I.G. University curriculum to train and educate our employees on multiple facets of our operations and the global supply chain. We are also focusing on providing feedback to employees including quarterly performance reviews, career goal setting and will focus on incentivizing our top performers.
Combined, our plans have never been bigger. With a focus on growth in El Paso and Huntsville as well as plans to break ground on a new facility in Laredo, BIG Logistics is eager to serve Texas, the cross-border community and beyond in the coming year.
