BIG Lessons Learned & New Year Resolutions
As we all know, 2021 was a year full of challenges in our industry. First, we want to thank and congratulate every team member of BIG Logistics for their hard work, dedication, and diligence to get the job done. Obstacles proved to exist in every facet of our business this year, from navigating the ever-changing dynamics of the pandemic itself, to the direct effect the pandemic placed on our entire industry worldwide with transportation delays, supply shortages, and labor constraints to name a few.
Each one of these challenging scenarios has given BIG Logistics the opportunity to identify and evaluate points of improvement within our organization. As we close out 2021, we would like to share some of the lessons we have learned in 2021 as well as our goals for improvement in 2022.
2021 Lessons Learned
Because 2021 was chock full of teachable moments that we can take forward to sharpen and prepare our team for future challenges. Vendor relationships are paramount as trust is the most valuable currency in business. Building trust in all directions requires communication, collaboration, and cross-training as we strive to prioritize proactive solutions for our clients and our team. This year, we learned the importance of expanding our service offerings to include light manufacturing and warehousing as the needs of our customers grew in time with our abilities.
The hottest topic in 2021 was health. For the team at BIG Logistics, the focus on health includes following the experts to ensure our stations are protecting our team with the best sanitation and safety practices. But not only did we need to focus on physical health but in light of the pandemic and added stress, mental health, fiscal health, and professional health.
2022 Resolutions
To meet the needs and challenges of the coming year, BIG Logistics is strengthening our commitment to training, cross-training, and technology improvements. It’s our goal to provide options for our team members to learn new skills, sharpen their skills, and try things in a safe and secure environment. We are encouraging everyone to make plans, set goals, create realistic long and short-term objectives with a clear vision toward execution and monitoring process.
Implementing a lean Six Sigma program with a 5S visual system will ensure our team is operating on the same page as we strive for continuous improvement in our warehouse and processes. Incentivizing our team in their pursuit of greatness will focus on both expanding the support of our human resources division and the creation of an employee of the month program to showcase the incredible talent we have.
Final Thoughts
BIG Logistics is looking forward to another incredible year as we move into these new pathways and hope to work with our clients and vendors to make improvements to benefit the parts of the supply chain that work in congruence with our mission. We remain dedicated to the health, support, and safety of our team and encourage all of them to reach for their full potential in the new year. It’s exciting and humbling to watch our team and our connections grow and succeed and we’re encouraged by the outstanding commitment we’ve seen throughout the last two years.
